Raumentonus was born beneath the unrelenting sun of Southern Thanalan, in a small Seeker of the Sun tribe that eked out survival among shifting sands and harsh winds. His tribe was bound by the traditions of their people: one Nunh to rule, hunters to serve, and all others to submit or challenge for dominance. From childhood, Raumentonus felt the tribe’s customs like a set of invisible chains. He excelled as a hunter and tracker, quick with bow and blade, but each lesson seemed less about survival and more about obedience. The idea of bowing forever to one man’s will gnawed at him. When his time came to stand for Nunh, he refused—not out of weakness, but defiance. The night he walked away, his mother pressed a small token into his palm: a crystal shard, said to have been found in the ruins of an ancient star-worshipping temple. She told him it shone brightest under the noonday sun. He carried it with him as a reminder of freedom, never suspecting the truth of what it was.Years later, while wandering the ruins of Mhach during a hunt for treasure, Raumentonus felt the crystal stir in his hands. Light burst forth, overwhelming and alien, carrying him away in a torrent of starlight. When he awoke, he was no longer in Thanalan—nor even in Eorzea. The crystal had carried him across the veil of worlds, into a realm both strange and familiar. Confused but exhilarated, he learned that he bore a fragment once tied to an ancient traveler whose soul embodied boundless freedom and the urge to walk among all peoples. From that day, Raumentonus embraced the crystal as both compass and key. It became not just a relic, but a bond—linking him to the star’s greater weave of lives. Where others saw the walls between worlds, he saw roads waiting to be walked.
